Attention! Chemical Manufacturers & Distributors! California Prop 65 - Major change for labels

Posted 9/11/2018

Did you know that the State of California now requires particular wording on labels of chemical products containing one or more ingredients considered hazardous included on the updated list of the State of California?

More recently, the manufacturers and distributors of ingredients and products that caused cancer, birth defects or reproductive effects had the obligation to add on their labels a general type of warning such as:  " WARNING! This product contains a chemical, known by the State of California, to cause cancer. » This wording (with variations for three types of hazards) had to appear on all product labels in the State of California, or they could face fines or even imprisonment.

The amendment, currently in effect, since August 31, 2018, now requires the manufacturers to redo their labels to include the new statement and a symbol as illustrated below. The wording should now include the name of the substance or substances responsible for the specific hazard.

WARNING: This product can expose you to chemicals including Toluene, which is known to the State of California to cause developmental effects.

This modification must be applied to all labels by September 1st, 2018! It is now mandatory to take all necessary measures, when exporting to the United States a product containing one or more of these ingredients included in the updated list :
