Appropriate training is customized training at your workplace

A person is appropriately trained if they have a sound knowledge of all the hazards associated with the dangerous goods they are called upon to handle, handle, request for transport or transport.

Whether it is related to WHMIS regulations or the transportation of dangerous goods (TDG), these regulations require the employer to provide all employees with specific training related to hazardous materials at their workplace.

Every worker exposed or in the presence of dangerous products must therefore be educated and trained to fully understand the potential hazards present at their workplace. As a result, the worker may be able to make the appropriate arrangements to work safely.

According to Health Canada

To meet the requirements, appropriate training must include;

• Education usually refers to general information such as the name and definition of pictograms and hazard classes.
• Training instead means job and workplace specific information. This training should include procedures for the storage, handling, use and disposal of products as well as emergency situations, spills and incident response.

Conclusion: A simple online training does not meet all the requirements of the regulations.
